I created Is My Name Rare? for the question that almost everyone has wondered at some point: how unusual is my name, really?
Official statistics can answer that question, but the raw spreadsheets are not exactly a light read. This site turns published records from the Office for National Statistics and the US Social Security Administration into an approachable story about one exact name.
It is deliberately not a name-discovery tool. There are no recommendation lists, generators or pressure to keep browsing. You search one name and see its history: the latest published count, its peak, its quietest recorded year and the direction it has been moving.
Accuracy matters
Small values may be withheld or omitted by official publishers, and the two countries use different publication methods. Rather than hiding those complications, the site calls them out. A missing result is never presented as proof that a name does not exist.
The England and Wales records are described as exactly that, not as whole-UK data. United States figures come from the SSA. The site is independent and is not affiliated with either organisation.
The guiding idea: turn boring data into fun 'visual' statistics.
